Psychological studies show the more radically religious a group of people, the lower their IQ. When you think about it, it makes sense. Look across the congregation of snake handlers or Pentecostals speaking in tongues. You’re not likely to see many PhD’s. Doesn’t that speak for itself? That should be a giant clue – like someone annoyingly tapping you on the head yelling “hellooooo!” right after you’ve done something stupid.
Think of the socio-economic strata of religions like the colored horizontal stripes of soil and rock on the walls of the Grand Canyon, with snake handlers at the bottom, Baptists in the middle, and perhaps - oh I don’t know - Episcopals at the top.
To put it simply, the more religious you are, the more stupid you’re acting. Shouldn’t that make us not want to be religious at all?
